Despite the scale of human suffering brought about by malnutrition, the fight against world hunger receives far less attention than the fight against poverty, especially from bilateral and multilateral donors and lending agencies. The UN Millennium Declaration in 2000 set the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the first of which is to halve poverty and hunger by 2015
